Greenpower Australia is delivered by GreenSTEM Education, the official international licensee of Greenpower in Australia. Through this world-class STEM program, young people work in teams to design, build, race and refine single-seater electric vehicles while developing skills in engineering, problem solving, teamwork, leadership and communication.
Greenpower began in 1999 in the UK through Greenpower Education Trust, which now works with more than 700 teams and engages more than 11,000 young people each year. Greenpower Australia proudly brings this proven international program to schools, community groups and young people across the country, with opportunities to participate regionally, nationally, and even represent Australia at international events.
For students in Years 3–6
Goblin is the perfect entry point into Greenpower. Students build and race a purpose-designed electric kit car while developing confidence, teamwork, creativity and foundational STEM skills. It is an engaging and highly accessible way for younger students to experience engineering and motorsport in a safe, age-appropriate format.
For students in Years 5–10
F24 takes the challenge further, with students building, preparing and racing more advanced electric vehicles (with the option to use a kit our build from scratch to the Greenpower Technical Guidelines). Teams explore engineering, design, data, teamwork and race strategy while developing practical skills and deeper understanding through authentic, hands-on learning.
For students in Years 11–12, tertiary students, apprentices and young adults up to age 25
F24+ is Greenpower’s most advanced category. It provides an exceptional platform for older students and young people to engage in high-level engineering, design, fabrication, testing and innovation, with strong pathways into industry, tertiary study and motorsport-related careers.
Greenpower is far more than a race day. It is a powerful long-term STEM education platform that helps young people apply their learning in real and meaningful ways. Teams take ownership of their vehicle, solve real problems, work collaboratively, manage roles and responsibilities, and experience the excitement of motorsport as a context for learning.
The strength of Greenpower is its progression. Students can begin in Goblin, continue into F24 and grow into F24+, building their skills and confidence over time through one connected program. This age-range progression is one of the features that has made Greenpower so successful internationally.
Greenpower Australia is continuing to grow, with Tasmania as the national home of the program and increasing opportunities for schools and community groups across Australia to get involved.

Greenpower Australia also works to improve access for schools and community groups through partnerships, funding pathways, grant writing support, discounted support in some contexts, and loan or access models where available.
Greenpower Australia has already begun creating new pathways for young people in Australia. Tasmanian public schools have led the way, with Montello Primary School and Parklands High School (Tasmanian Greenpower Centre of Excellence) among the first schools in the country to engage in the program. Greenpower Australia is also building strong national connections, including with schools such as Pymble Ladies’ College (NSW Greenpower Centre of Excellence)
As the program grows, Greenpower Australia is creating authentic opportunities for young people to engage deeply in STEM, connect with industry, and pursue national and international pathways through one of the world’s most exciting educational motorsport programs.
Greenpower Australia welcomes schools, colleges, community groups and partners from across the country.
