STEM on Track

Build. Learn. Drive.

STEM on Track is a powerful, hands-on STEM experience where young people step into the world of motorsport engineering—building, understanding, and driving a real go-kart.

Delivered by GreenSTEM Education at The Makers Technology & Innovation Hub, this program connects classroom learning to real-world application, giving students the opportunity to develop practical skills, confidence, and a genuine passion for STEM.

A Real-World STEM Experience

Starting Monday, 15th June 2026, STEM on Track runs weekly during school terms on Monday afternoons (4:00pm – 6:00pm), continuing through Terms 3 and 4.

Over the course of the program, participants don’t just learn about STEM—they apply it.

They work collaboratively to:

  • Build and assemble a real racing go-kart
  • Understand mechanical and electrical systems
  • Develop engineering, physics, and design knowledge
  • Solve real problems in a workshop environment
  • Test and refine their work through hands-on learning
  • Drive the kart they’ve built at a real track experience

This is STEM brought to life.

What Makes STEM on Track Different

Most STEM programs stop at theory.
STEM on Track goes further.

✔ Real equipment
✔ Real systems

✔ Real outcomes

Students experience the full journey—from concept and construction through to performance and driving—building both technical capability and confidence along the way.

Pathways & Progression

STEM on Track is just one of the exciting STEM programs we offer for young people on the NW Coast.

Participants can continue their journey through:

  • Greenpower Australia – design, build, and race electric vehicles
  • FIRST LEGO League & FIRST Tech Challenge
  • Maker Lab – advanced engineering, fabrication, and innovation

Students who participated in STEM on Track 2025 are invited to continue their pathway in 2026, with access to exclusive track sessions and returning participant opportunities.

Why It Matters

Too many young people disengage from STEM because they don’t see its relevance.

STEM on Track changes that.

By connecting learning to a high-interest, real-world context, students:

  • Build confidence in their abilities
  • Develop practical, transferable skills
  • Experience success through hands-on achievement
  • See clear pathways into future STEM opportunities
