GreenSTEM Education is excited to have partnered with Burnie Community House to launch STEM Unlimited, a weekly after-school and holiday STEM program designed for young people in grades 5-12. STEM Unlimited is a registered Code Club and has already successfully launched a FIRST Lego League (FLL) team.
In 2024, our BCH STEM Unlimited FLL team placed an impressive 2nd overall at the 2024 Burnie Regional, and proudly represented Tasmania at the FLL National Championships South in Sydney. We were incredibly proud and excited to turn this opportunity into an engaging STEM camp, which included educational and fun experiences like visiting Taronga Zoo and an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Google offices!
STEM Unlimited is also an official Children's University Learning Destination, offering a variety of exciting and educational activities where students can earn credits towards their Children’s University Passport to Learning.
At STEM Unlimited, students have the opportunity to extend their skills, knowledge, and understanding in all areas of STEM. The possibilities are truly unlimited. Participants can dive into digital making, such as video game development, website creation, or app building, join a robotics team, work on maker projects, explore sustainability through gardening, and more.
Program Details:
- When: Wednesday afternoons, 3:00 - 5:00 PM
- Where: Burnie Community House, 24 Wiseman St, Shorewell Park 7320
- Who: Young people in grades 5-12 (inclusive)
- Cost: Free (Students are encouraged to bring their own devices if possible. Free access to WiFi is available.)
The program is designed to be an inclusive, supportive space where all students can explore their interests in STEM and develop new skills in a fun and collaborative environment. Whether students are passionate about technology, engineering, sustainability, or digital creativity, STEM Unlimited provides the resources, mentorship, and community support to help them thrive.
